BUS 4500: Business Ethics and Sustainability 

The Challenge:
A three week engagement for students in Dr. Timothy Palmer’s Spring business sustainability course. Use GetGreen’s Western Michigan University customized version to learn about sustainable practices - and take actions that have an impact and are measurable. 

How to participate?

1. Download & Register - Get the GetGreen app and sign up with your @wmich.edu email.

2. Set Up –  Answer a few quick start-up questions.

3. Explore actions and work toward goals – Start exploring actions that you can learn about and incorporate into your daily life or work toward goals. A goal is a set of actions to be completed, like the WMU Changemaker, where you become knowledgeable and practiced in conservation in many aspects of your life (even as a student).

CONTEST RULES

• You are eligible as a student of Dr Palmer's class this semester.
• All students are eligible to win prizes each week! That's right, you can win more than once for earning leaves in different weeks, as well as the Grand Prize.
• Any actions taken in the app worth over 50 leaves will need to be verified by the GetGreen team.
• Design committee members may win weekly prizes, but are not eligible for the Grand Prize.

Week 1
​March 24th - March 30th midnight EDT

Top 5 leaf earners win a $5 Kumo Hibachi Buffet Gift Card, and a grab bag gift from WMU’s Office for Sustainability (choose from a shirt, a water bottle, or a tote bag)

Week 2
March 31st 12:01am  - April 6th midnight EDT​

Top 5 leaf earners win a 15% discount coupon to Ayasofya Turkey restaurant, and a grab bag gift from WMU’s Office for Sustainability (choose from a shirt, a water bottle, or a tote bag)

Week 3
April 7th 12:01am - April 13th midnight EDT

Top 5 leaf earners choose a $25 gift card to two popular certified B Corps, Patagonia or Uncommon Goods, and a grab bag gift from WMU's Office for Sustainability (choose one from whatever is left of shirts, water bottles, and tote bags)

WMU Changemaker Student Goal

Any user who completes the WMU Changemaker Student Goal in GetGreen will receive a​ Set of Bamboo Utensils courtesy of the WMU Office for Sustainability - you can reuse, carry with you, and ultimately compost!  Another small step you can take to avoid single-use plastics as you walk through the world - during your student career and beyond!

Claiming the Prizes

Prizes will be announced and awarded in Dr. Palmer’s class on the Monday of each week.

The challenge ends at midnight April 13th, The Grand Prize winner and the Week 3 top leaf earners will be announced and awarded prizes on April 14th.
